MK Khenin warns credit card hacking is a ‘stop sign’ for government

The leaking of thousands of Israelis’ credit card information is a ‘stop sign’

for the Israeli government, MK Dov Khenin (Hadash) warned on Tuesday in a letter to Minister of the Interior Eli Yishai (Shas).

Speaking the day after a group of hackers posted the credit card details of thousands of Israelis on a sports website, MK Khenin stressed the danger of collecting information for a new national biometric database. “Again we witness the breaching of a secure database. The State of Israel has no reason to create unnecessary databases,” he said, explaining that “while credit cards can be replaced, fingerprints cannot.”
