Hadash lawmakers condemned the occupation of Palestinian territories and denounced the new Israeli army operation against the West Bank city of Nablus, where five people were killed and more than 20 injured.

MK Aida Touma-Sliman (Hadash) faced a wave of far-right attacks on Tuesday after referring to five murdered members of a Palestinian armed group in Nablus as martyrs and asserting that their “resistance was a response to the occupation.” The more the occupation increases its crimes, the resistance escalates,” Touma-Sliman added. “An important lesson in the history of nations.”

MK Ofer Cassif (Hadash) expressed “full support” for Touma-Sleiman, saying that the Communist lawmaker “stands against incitement” and was stating a “simple truth: where there is oppression, where there is occupation, there will also be resistance.” “The occupation is terrorism and its supporters and promoters led by the blood minister [Benny Gantz] must be judged – in Israel, Palestine, The Hague or on the stage of history. Only the end of the occupation will bring peace and security to both nations.”

Hadash-Ta’al list leader, MK Ayman Odeh, comes to the defense of his party’s lawmaker. In a tweet, Odeh claims Touma-Sliman is being subject to “attacks and incitement by the leaders of a country that is occupying another.” “We will always stand firm and strong against evil, supremacy and racism,” he adds.
