Communist & Workers’ Parties: Solidarity with Sudanese Freedom

In the wake of this week’s military coup in Sudan, the Communist and Workers’ Parties listed below have signed a Joint Statement condemning this reactionary move and saluting the persistent struggle of the Sudanese people for freedom and social progress, against their local exploiters along with and the interference of all imperialist forces seeking to expropriate the natural resources of Sudan and use the country’s political, economic and social turmoil in their strategy to dominate the region.

The Joint Statement expresses the full solidarity of the signatory parties with the communists and the people of Sudan, who in December 2018 began their heroic struggle to liberate their country from dictatorship and tyranny. These same progressive forces are today continuing to organize and take part in mass mobilizations against the attempts to overturn the results of the 2018 popular uprising, and are currently fighting for the restoration of their political and trade union rights and freedoms. The statement concludes by affirming: “The people of Sudan will be victorious! The coup will be defeated!”
