5,000 Jewish and Arab peace activists rallied East Jerusalem against settlers
Some 5,000 Jewish and Arab peace activists rallied tonight (Saturday, March 6), among them several members of Hadash (the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality – Communist Party of Israel) in the Palestinian Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Jerusalem in order to protest against the settlement of Jews in the area and the evacuation of Arab families from their homes.

Statement of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Israel

MK Muhammad Barakeh, the Chairperson of the Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (DFPE) and member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Israel (CPI), will take part later this month, with the blessings of the CPI and DFPE leaderships, in the Israeli parliamentary delegation to commemorate the International Day of the Auschwitz Death Camp Liberation by the Red Army. His participation is a clear expression of the ideological and political line, put forward by the CPI and DFPE for many years:
One thousand Israeli peace activists and communists, Jews and Arabs, protest today (Friday, January 22) in East Jerusalem Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood against Jewish settlement there. Twenty people, among them members of the Communist Party of Israel, were arrested by the Israeli police and the Frontier Guard (Mishmar HaGvul).
