MK Odeh: Netanyahu Responsible for Violent Escalation

MKs from Hadash have placed the blame for the current round of violence on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and claim that his incitement led an Arab resident to carry out an attack near Hadera on Sunday night, October 11. Four people were wounded in the attack nearby Kibbutz Gan Shmuel, close to Hadera, among them a female soldier who is in serious condition, and a 15 year old. The assailant, Ala Mhamed Zwid (20), grew up near Jenin in the occupied Palestinian territories, and became a resident of Umm Al-Fahm in Israel through a family reunification process.

The attack was condemned by the chairman of the Joint List, MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash), who at the same time criticized the extreme-right government for the recent wave of violence. “I unequivocally condemn the attack against citizens. The fact that children are among the wounded is heartbreaking,” Odeh said. “We are in the midst of terrible times, which were led to by an irresponsible and cruel government. But violence is it not our way and it never has been. The current government and prime minister are responsible for this terrible situation,” Odeh said. He concluded by saying, “We will continue our upright and democratic struggle to bring about justice and peace for both peoples living in this country.”
