Alternative service honors Palestinian and Israeli victims of occupation

Last night, Combatants for Peace staged their seventh annual alternative Memorial Day ceremony, to which bereaved families were invited, including 40 Palestinian ones. The popular event – that was relocated from the compact Tmuna Theater to the bigger Hangar 11 at Tel Aviv’s port – was met with fascist opposition.

The joint memorial ceremony was held Tuesday night in commemoration of the Israeli and Palestinians victims of the occupation. Hundreds members of bereaved Palestinian and Israeli families who promote dialogue, reconciliation and non-violence participated at the ceremony

Dozens of fascists protested on Tuesday evening against the alternative Memorial Day ceremony. The demonstrators carried signs that read “The left degrades soldiers on the eve of Memorial Day,” “The people of Israel lives – the left is dead,” “The left is the enemy of the people,” “The Arab lie murders our loved ones” and banners of banned Kahana racist movement.
