Solidarity with Khulood Badawi who works for UNOCHA and is now under attack

The resent murderous Israeli attack on Gaza brought another manipulation of pro-occupation forces. Among other Palestinians, Khulood Badawi who works for UNOCHA is now under attack.Yesterday Badawi posted a tweet on her private channel, depicting Israel attack on Gaza. The picture which she shared as illustration to this post proved to be from 2006, of a child who got injured from falling, Badawi wasn’t aware of the origin of the picture and mistakenly thought that it was appropriate for illustrating her post. However, HonestReporting -right wing and pro-occupation propaganda website opened an organized attack on Badawi, which includes appealing to her superiors in the UN with demands for her immediate dismissal.

Khulood Badawi was born in Nazareth, in 1976, and is an Arab-Palestinian citizen of Israel. At the University of Haifa, she studied the history of the Jewish people and the Arabic language. In 1996, she began her activism as a student at the University of Haifa. Badawi was first active in the Arab Students’ Committee as a member of Hadash (Democratic Front for Peace and Equality – Communist Party of Israel) and later was a founding member and elected chair of the Association of the Arab University Students in Israel. Her campus work ranged from educating Arab and Jewish students alike about the Israeli occupation and Palestinian rights, as well as improving the status of the Palestinian Arab students of the Israeli University and defending their rights to freedom of speech and expression. Badawi was expelled from the university and banned from entering the campus for two years for organizing demonstrations that lasted about four months.
