Hadash MK Ofer Cassif (Joint List) criticized a statement signed by US President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Yair Lapid, estimating that it perpetuates the occupation of Palestinian lands and will cause more wars. “Biden and Lapid declared that the occupation, the Jewish supremacist regime and the continuation of cooperation with the dark regimes will continue,” the MK and leading Communist Party of Israel member wrote on Twitter.
Instead of talking about true peace and the dismantling of weapons of mass destruction in the world and in our region in particular, they promote violence, he said, and affirmed that his caucus will continue the fight for justice and peace.
Biden and Lapid signed the Jerusalem US-Israel Strategic Partnership Joint Declaration between the United States and Israel on Thursday, reiterating the White House’s commitment to maintaining the military supremacy of Israel in the region. It also threatens the use of force against Iran while promoting Israel’s insertion in the area through the continuation of agreements to normalize relations with pro-imperialist Arab countries.
The two sides also promised cooperation on “cutting-edge defense technologies such as high-energy laser weapon systems.” The new document was rejected by Palestinian movements as an instrument of the Israeli occupation.
