Israeli Communists Mourn Cuban Revolutionary Leader Fidel Castro

The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Israel (CPI), Adel Amer, issued a statement of mourning on Saturday, November 26, for the Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro who died on Friday evening, eight years after he resigned as president of the socialist republic on the largest island of the Caribbean. Condolences for the Cuban leader poured into Havana from around the world. Secretary General Amer extended his condolences to the people of Cuba and expressed support for them and the Communist Party in this dark hour.

The Cuban government announced on Saturday morning that Fidel Castro’s ashes will be interred at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery in Santiago de Cuba on December 4. Cubans will be able to pay homage to Castro at the José Martí memorial in Havana on November 28 and 29. A mass rally will be held in the capital at 7pm on November 29. The following day, Castro’s ashes will begin their journey along the route that commemorates his victory in 1959. On December 4, his ashes will be interred at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery at 7am, the resting place of 19th century Cuban independence hero José Martí and many other leading figures of the country’s revolutionary history.
