The 10th Marx Forum in Israel: “Imperialism Then and Now”

In early November, the 10th Marx Forum will be held in Tel Aviv and Bat Yam under the auspices of the Left Bank College. This year the conference will focus on the theme “Imperialism Then and Now” to commemorate the centenary of the publication of the V.I. Lenin’s monumental book Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism. The goal of the conference will be to explore questions related to the development of imperialism since the publication of the book, including its constant and varying aspects.

The conference will include a number of lectures and panel discussions addressing: Imperialism, Zionism and Colonialism – an Historic Perspective; Imperialism and Capitalist Globalization; Mechanisms of International Capital; Imperialism in the Middle East; Imperialism and Migration. The closing session will focus on a test case: Imperialism, the Israeli Government and the Natural Gas Deal. In addition, a special session will be devoted to social, environmental and class struggles during the past year. The conference will take place on Friday, November 4 at MoBY – the Museum of Bat Yam, 6 Struma Street Bat Yam, and on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Left Bank, 70 Ahad Ha’am Street, Tel Aviv, first floor.

The organizers of the conference are interested in receiving proposals for lectures, panel discussions and meeting on the subjects listed above as well as on any of the following or other topics: Imperialism and capitalism in Israel and Palestine; Imperialism and Gender Discrimination; Imperialism and Culture; Imperialism and Changes in the World of Work; Imperialism and the Environment.
