A new exhibition will be opening tomorrow, Thursday, February 25, at the Museum of Bat Yam (MoBY): The Kids Want Communism.
More than any other word in our political vocabulary, communism is the radical negation of the current regime which celebrates exploitation and inequality.
The Kids Want Communism is a joint project of numerous individuals and organizations, which will host its exhibitions, screenings, discussions, seminars and publications in a variety of locations; among them Tranzit, Prague; Free/Slow University of Warsaw; State of Concept, Athens; Škuc gallery, Ljubljana; Visual Culture Research Center, Kyiv and MoBY in Bat Yam.
This installment in the yearly series of exhibitions will open on February 25 and will feature: Artikişler, BANKI-SHABIBA (Young Communist League of Israel), Keti Chukhrov, Ekaterina Degot, Galit Eilat, Max Epstein, Iliana Fokianaki, Tal Gafny, Jonathan Gold, Alioscha Gozansky, Marina Grzinic, Nir Harel, Micah Hesse, Vit Havranek, Yota Ioannidou, Nikita Kadan, Ohad Meromi, Julia Moritz, New Barbizon (Anna Lukashevsky, Zoya Cherkassky, Olga Kundida, Asia Lukin and Natalia Zourabova), Olaf Nicolai, Ingo Niermann, Tamar Nissim, Oleksiy Radynski, Gilad Reich, Eran Sebbag, Joshua Simon, Kuba Szreder, Kostis Velonis, Vladimir Vidmar, Vangelis Vlahos, Nicole Wermers and Noa Yafe.
As part of the exhibition series, a permanent space at the museum will serve as a movie theater featuring a variety of old and new video works. The first installment will offer a selection of three science-fiction movies from the Soviet Bloc: Aelita, Queen of Mars (Yakov Protazanov, 1924, USSR), New Moscow (Aleksandr Medvedkin,1938, USSR), and O-Bi O-Ba: The End of Civilization (Piotr Szulkin,1985, Poland).
The Kids Want Communism exhibition will be open from February 25, 2016 to January 21, 2017. The opening is tomorrow, Thursday, February 25, 8–11pm at MoBY (Museum of Bat Yam), 6 Struma Street, Bat Yam. Admission is free and open to the public.
