Israelis to UN Security Council: Set a Date to End the Occupation

Hundreds of Israelis have signed a petition to be sent to the United Nations Security Council demanding that it set a date by which Israel must end the occupation of the Palestinian territories.

The text of the petition reads as follows: “We, the undersigned, Israeli citizens, call upon all members of the UN Security Council to support the proposal to fix a firm date for terminating Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and to set a time limit for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, in the spirit of the recent proposal put forward to the Security Council by Jordan. We believe that the continued Israeli occupation is destructive to both Israel and Palestine. A decision by the Security Council to set a date for ending the occupation and determining the parameters for negotiating a fair and just peace, will salvage the two-state solution, and will allow Israel and Palestine to live side by side securely in peace and equality.”
