‘Pri Galil’ workers launched open-ended strike

The ‘Pri-Galil’ canned vegetables factory employees at Hatzor (Upper Galilee – North of Israel) launched a strike today (Wednesday) until further notice. The workers have started to put up a protest tent camp, and intend to be stationed at the factory with family members.

The strike decision was reached after the decision of the factory to dismiss 30 employees immediately, with 20 more within two weeks, comprising 20% of the factory staff The layoffs were first announced in early August but due to a court battle and protests, were not put into effect until now. The Histadrut labor federation argued last week that the layoffs were not legal.
