MK Khenin: Why is the government still hiring new foreign workers?

MK Dov Khenin (Hadash) proposed to establish in the Knesset a parliamentarian committee of inquiry regarding the policy of hiring new foreign workers while prohibiting the employment of asylum seekers.

“Why does the government continue to hire foreign workers? Wouldn’t it be better to employ asylum seekers; not preferable to employ Israelis? Instead of bringing in tens of thousands of foreign workers, wouldn’t it be better to give the work to asylum seekers, in conjunction with their applications to obtain refugee status.  They could receive work permits for different areas, which would also distribute them throughout the country more logically and naturally,” said MK Khenin.
