1,100 Teva Tech employees opened a strike this on last Sunday morning in protest of employee work conditions. Avraham Zohar, chairman of the employee union explained, “Teva’s management decided that it would not open negotiations on a wage agreement, and stood on the offer it was making to each of its enterprises: five percent over a five-year period.  The problem is with the gap between salaries in the center and the periphery areas of the country.  In the center, the average salary is NIS 13,000 while in the south it is NIS 4,500. This effectively means that employees in the center would gain NIS 3,000 while those in the south would only see an increase of about NIS 400.” “We cannot permit this kind of gap to continue. We cannot survive another year with this salary,” Zohar added.
