Mass Funeral for Palestinian Teen Killed by Israeli Soldiers; Second Youth Succumbs to His Wounds

Ahmad Kharoubi, 19, who was shot to death by Israeli soldiers on Thursday, December 22, in clashes in Kufr Aqab, south of Ramallah, was laid to rest later the same day in a funeral attended by thousands of people.

Kharoubi was shot dead by Israeli soldiers who came to the neighborhood to demolish the house of Misbah Abu Sbeih, who was killed in October after the latter shot and killed two Israelis. According to the Wafa Palestinian news agency, “soldiers opened live fire at youths who pelted them with rocks killing Kharoubi.” Kharoubi, who suffered from the blood disorder thalassemia, was laid to rest at al-Bireh cemetery near Ramallah.

On Friday, December 23, the Palestinian news agency Ma’an reported that, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health,16-year-old Palestinian Fares Ziad al-Bayed died, succumbing to a critical head injuring after having been hit by a live bullet during clashes with Israeli forces on October 15 at al-Jalazun refugee camp in the central occupied West Bank district of Ramallah. When shot, al-Bayed had participating in a march commemorating the first anniversary of the killing of 13-year-old Ahmad Sharaka, who was also shot and killed by Israeli forces during clashes a year earlier.
