MK Hazan Tries to Prevent Participation of Hadash MKs in Kfar Saba Peace Demonstration

MK Oren Hazan (Likud) tried last Thursday evening, October13, to attack Hadash MKs who were present in a demonstration held in front of the “Sukkah for Peace” organized by the “Women Wage Peace” movement at the Arim Mall in Kfar Saba. During the demonstration, chairman of the Joint List Ayman Odeh MK (Hadash) said: “The struggle for peace must be a joint struggle of Jews and Arabs throughout the country. We Arabs alone cannot [conduct the struggle], as we are only 20 percent of the population; nevertheless since we are a large minority, it cannot be done without us, and only a joint Jewish-Arab struggle is possible,” Odeh said.

During the event, MK Hazan tried to accost MKs Odeh and Touma-Sliman. He cursed the Hadash MKs and was finally was dragged away by the activists who took part in the event. In contrast to Hazan, MK Yehuda Glick (Likud) showed up at the event to express support for peace and strongly condemned the behavior and words of his Likud colleague. The event was also addressed by Meretz Chairwoman, MK Zahava Gal-On. Opposition leader MK Isaac Herzog (Zionist Union) arrived at the events for a few minutes, but didn’t speak.

At the end of the event, MK Odeh said: “We follow a clear, consistent line and support democracy, peace and equality – while building an authentic Arab-Jewish partnership even in the face of right-wing thugs. We thank the Women Wage Peace movement for organizing the event. You fill our hearts with hope!”
