Upon a joint initiative by the Palestinian People’s Party and the Communist Party of Israel, the AKEL party in Cyprus is hosting a “Regional meeting of the Communist and Workers’ parties of the East-Mediterranean – Towards a just and lasting peace, solidarity with the Palestinian people” on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 October at PEO Garden View Rest Houses in Pervolia.
In almost two months of Israeli murderous assault on Gaza, more than 2,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed, about 11,000 were injured, one third of the Gaza population (about 600,000 people) were displaced (many of them for the 4th time), and the whole Gaza Strip was put in ruins (electricity, water, roads, buildings and all vital resources were almost totally destroyed).
The Meeting is held in order to express solidarity with the Palestinian People and all forces that resist the Israeli aggressive policies, discuss the ramification of the last Israeli aggression against Gaza and develop and expand the role of the Communist and Workers Parties in the struggle against the imperialist plans in the region and in support for a solution that serves the rights and the interests of the peoples and of peace.
