A series of public events and protests will be held to mark 59 years of the occupation of the Palestinian territories. A conference titled “This is How Transfer is Done: Communities Under Attack” will be held tomorrow, Tuesday (June 2) at 11:00 AM in the Knesset’s Negev Hall, hosted by MKs Aida Touma-Sliman and Ofer Cassif (Hadash). The event will feature testimonies from Palestinians and activists, with the participation of civil society organizations, Knesset members and ambassadors.
The publication of the anti-occupation event sparked angry reactions from right-wing Knesset members, including appeals to Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana to cancel it immediately. Among those who appealed, MK Yitzhak Kroizer (Otzma Yehudit) noted that “this is a severe event led by terror supporters, designed to incite against the State of Israel, the settlements in Judea and Samaria, and the security forces.” Kroizer added that the Knesset cannot serve as a platform for “false accusations” and called the event “a dangerous crossing of a red line.” The Yisrael Beiteinu party, part of the Zionist opposition, reacted to the conference by saying, “Not in Israel’s Knesset; go to Ramallah.”

MK Cassif addressed this yesterday: “Today, I visited the village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta, which suffers from relentless settler terror backed by the occupation forces and supported by the government and its aides. While Knesset members call to cancel the conference, I initiated alongside my colleague Touma-Sliman regarding the violence of the occupation and displacement in the West Bank, the residents of Umm al-Khair continue to suffer from it. They watch as Jewish terrorist invaders encroach on their lands and erect structures upon them, in defiance of both the law and natural justice.”
An online conversation with MK Ayman Odeh titled “How Do We Change Reality?” is scheduled for Wednesday at 19:00, initiated by the Peace Partnership. The discussion will explore ways to break the status quo and build a safer, more just future for both peoples. On the following day, on Thursday at the same time, another conversation is scheduled: “How Do We Live Alongside 59 Years of Occupation?” This bilingual discussion between Elin Nassra and Hila Tov will focus on life, struggle, responsibility, and hope under a continuous reality of occupation. Furthermore, a Jewish-Arab national demonstration organized by the Peace Partnership will take place in Haifa on Saturday, June 6, departing from Paris Square. On Friday, June 12, a Freedom March will be held in the occupied West Bank alongside Palestinian communities.
