First to Act: Hadash Elects Its List for the Next October Election

The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality (Hadash) will elect its candidate list next Saturday, May 16, ahead of the upcoming Knesset elections in October. “Hadash is the first political force in the country to elect its list through internal elections, reflecting its preparedness for these fateful elections and for toppling the right-wing government at the ballot box,” the statement read.

From today until this coming Thursday, members of the Front can submit their candidacy for the internal elections, which will take place next Saturday. The Front stated that “the internal elections, open to all members, are an expression of the organizational democracy practiced in Hadash.” It should be noted that the Hadash National Council, which will elect the list, consists of 966 delegates and is considered the largest institution, with broad representation of all sectors of society – particularly workers.

Hadash Secretary, Amjad Shbita, stated: “Hadash branches across the country are organizing for the electing council, and we will be proud of whatever list is chosen. Upon completing our internal arrangements, we will move forward with full vigor in efforts to re-establish the Joint List as a tool for struggling against fascism, occupation, and war; to increase voter turnout, topple the right-wing government, oppose the spread of organized crime in Arab society, and lead a public and parliamentary struggle against placing the cost of war on workers and workers families”.
