Communist Party of Israel: With the Venezuelan People Against the Imperialist Aggression

The Communist Party of Israel (CPI) condemns the American aggression against Venezuela, this imperialist aggression aimed at plundering the country’s wealth and stealing its natural resources, after the efforts of the American administration failed for months to intimidate Venezuela and subjugate its sovereignty.

If Trump’s claims that the Venezuelan president and his wife were kidnapped in a bloody military operation are proven to be true, we are facing a reckless escalation of the American terrorist and an unprecedented trampling of international norms to impose American imperialist hegemony on South America, and to deprive its peoples of their will and right to choose their own destiny freely and independently.

We in the Communist Party, affirm that this brutal American aggression against Venezuela’s sovereignty is aimed at silencing its distinctive and clear voice against imperialism and colonialism everywhere in the world, which is biased towards the rights of peoples, foremost of which is their right to self-determination and to freely dispose of their natural resources and wealth in a way that serves the interests of their peoples and not the interests of the colonial powers.

After two years of the genocidal war against the Palestinian people, the silence of the countries of the world and even their support for the government of Israel, and while for two years the assassinations, and the trampling on sovereignty and human rights in our region have been turned into an alternative to negotiations and legitimized by the majority of the countries of the Western world, it is no wonder that the militarily powerful superpower in the Western world allows itself to do the same – today in Venezuela and tomorrow against other countries.

We stand firmly with the people of Venezuela and their sovereignty on their territory and demand an immediate cessation of this blatant aggression and respect for the sovereignty of States and the right of peoples to self-determination.

According to MK Ofer Cassif, a CPI’s leading member, “The U.S. attack on Venezuela is yet another brutal imperialist act in a long chain of terror attacks against Latin America and beyond. Even when the target has been regimes that are themselves repressive (such as Maduro’s), it was not democracy or human rights that motivated U.S. action, but as noted, economic and political interests: blatant imperialism. The kidnapping of Maduro is a mafia style act which, like the murder of Allende, could easily lead to the installation of a fascist puppet government and a horrific bloodbath. Yankees, hands off Latin America!”.
