Israeli Activists Marched Near the Gaza Border Calling to End the War and Starvation

One thousand of peace activists marched and carried food on Friday, June 6, near the Israel-Gaza border as part of a protest organized by the Partnership for Peace, and called to end the war, the occupation and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. “The blockade and hunger are not protecting anybody. The war is not making us secure and is not bringing back the hostages,” the protesters said.

Among marchers: Hadash MK Ofer Cassif and internationally well-known singer Noa (Achinoam Nini). Noa wrote today on X, “Yesterday at the protest march on the Gaza border, we called for an end to this terrible and brutal war that is killing hostages and soldiers, and starving, burning, and murdering endless children and innocent people. Enough, enough, enooough!!!” “We brought food, signs, words, we brought our pain and love. There were speeches. One person read a heartbreaking letter from a friend in Gaza. There were also silent circles, singing (I sang through a megaphone), and cries of anguish… I felt there was no other place I wanted or could be. The conscience and heart of an entire country was reduced to a thousand people in white who refuse to let their hearts — our hearts — turn to stone.”

After the march, Partnership for Peace announced another protest, next Saturday, June 14, on the Israeli side of the Gaza border, in confluence with the “Global March on Gaza”, in the Egyptian side of the border. On June 12, between 2,000 and 3,000 activists from close to 50 countries worldwide are expected to descend on Cairo to pressure the international community to force Israel to end the bombardment and siege of Gaza, which human rights groups and scholars have called a genocide.  The “Global March on Gaza” will see activists make their way to the city of al-Arish in Sinai and embark on a march to the border with Gaza, where they will camp for three days to urge authorities to allow aid to be let in.
