Dr. Jabareen, a human rights lawyer and lecturer, was first elected to the Israeli Knesset in 2015. He is one of the 13 members of the Joint List composed of representative from four political parties acting in unison in the Knesset.

Also during his week in Ottawa, MK Jabareen held private meetings with Canadian officials to better understand how Canada protects minority rights – including language rights and the rights of its aboriginal peoples. “Canada may not be perfect, but I felt that I may be able to learn something useful in Canada which I could try to press for in Israel,” he said.
