Mansour Dahamsha, head of the Secretariat of Hadash (The Democratic Front for Peace and Equality), has announced that the Secretariat recently decided to hold the bloc’s 9th convention on Friday and Saturday, December 2-3, 2016. It is anticipated that all branches of the front will actively participate in the convention and will elect delegates to represent them in the convention.
The Secretariat decided that each branch will be allotted one delegate for every 200 votes garnered for Hadash in the branch’s geographical area in the elections for the 19th Knesset held on March 17, 2015. In order to ensure the representation of women among the delegates, their number will not be less than 20% of the delegates sent by each branch.
In addition, the Secretariat has decided that the following members will automatically be delegates to the convention: all members of the Hadash Secretariat and the Audit Committee, all Hadash MKs, all members of the leadership of the Hadash faction in the Histadrut and all Hadash representatives in the Histadrut, all members of the central committee of Na’amat, all elected Hadash representatives in municipalities and local councils, and all representatives of Hadash in the Teachers’ Union.
The final date for selecting delegates by the branches of Hadash is November 20.
The agenda and schedule of the convention as well as its location and key issues for discussion will be published in the near future.
