The undersigned Communist and Workers Parties participating in the Regional Meeting, which convened in Cyprus on 24-25th October 2014:
Express their support and solidarity with the struggle of the people of Iraq and Syria and the Kurdish people in Kobani of Syria, which is aiming at protecting the right to life against the crimes of the so-called “Islamic State” that intensify the human catastrophe, as well as with the people of Syria who are resisting the imperialist interventions and bloodshed in the country.
The imperialist force’s plans regarding Iraq and Syria, through the on-going interventions, have strengthened the most reactionary sectarian forces of the Salafists, Jihadists and the Islamic State. They have led to the intensification of centrifugal tendencies and the threat of partition of independent states.
They consider that the so-called “humanitarian interventions” and wars waged by the US, NATO and the EU are violating International Law and exacerbating the problems in the region and aim at advancing the US “Middle East plan”.
The fact of the matter is that the so-called “Islamic State” is the creation of the policies of the US administration and the EU in the Middle East. The so-called “Islamic State” has been created and maintained by the resources, weaponry and continues support and of imperialism and its allies in the region.
They condemn governments and organizations, which have been supporting and arming the so-called “Islamic State” and its criminal policies and actions in Iraq and Syria and against Kobani people.
The Communist and Workers Parties signing the statement,
Urge the peoples of the region to take a clear stance against imperialism and its intervention in the region, to reject taking part in any kind of pro-imperialist cooperation, to intensify their anti-imperialist struggle, activity for peace and their cooperation, as well as to strengthen the political front against criminal organizations and reactionary forces.
