Histadrut turns postal strike to Transport and Tourism ministries

The Histadrut, General Federation of Labor, is striking Israel’s courts in solidarity with the Israel Postal Company employees and their opposition to proposed privatization. As part of the strike all administrative staff in the courts not worked. The strike of Israel Postal Company workers will expand on Wednesday to the Transportation and Tourism ministries, the Histadrut Labor Federation announced Tuesday as negotiations with the Finance Ministry over a labor dispute faltered.

On Tuesday, the strike shuttered courts as part of the struggle over the fate of 1,500 post office workers. On Thursday postal workers will also protest in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Beer-Sheva from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. At the same time Israel Postal Company employees are renewing their sanctions. The sanctions include halting deliveries of registered mail, providing no services to government ministries and foreign embassies, refusing to transfer ownership of vehicles, and not collecting court, police or local authority fines.
