MK Odeh to Netanyahu: “Mister Magician, It’s Time to Disappear”

Far-right Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “warned” the Israeli public on Saturday, November 16, of the possibility that MK Benny Gantz might establish a minority government which, according to Netanyahu, would be backed by Joint List lawmakers. “We are facing an emergency that is unprecedented in the history of the State of Israel,” Netanyahu said. “Going for another election is a disaster, but setting up a government that depends on the Arab parties is an even bigger disaster. It is a historic danger to Israel’s security. It will gravely hurt the security of Israel,” the racist premier fretted.

The PM also shared with his audience a report by US billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s pro-Netanyahu daily Israel Hayom, which supported his claims that Blue & White intends to join forces with the Joint List.

Netanyahu’s remarks mark a peak in the political campaign he’s been running in recent weeks that targets the Joint List, Blue & White and Avigdor Lieberman’s Yisrael Beiteinu (“Israel is Our Home”) in an attempt to prevent Gantz from forming a minority government without the Likud. The Likud held an “emergency rally” on Sunday in Tel Aviv to protest “a minority government supported by the Arab parties.”

The prime minister’s campaign against a minority government went on even during Israel’s two-day round of fighting against the Islamic Jihad, initiated by Netanyahu, which ended Thursday when a cease-fire between Israel and the group came into effect. On Wednesday, Netanyahu made an address at the Knesset in which he attacked Joint List MKs and a Hadash protest demonstration held near the Likud headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Joint List Chairman, MK Ayman Odeh (Hadash) took to Twitter to address Netanyahu’s latest comments. “Netanyahu is a cynical politician who lost two consecutive elections and will only leave scorched earth behind him in a desperate attempt to hang on to his job. Mister Magician, it’s time for you to perform a trick and disappear. The Arab and Jewish citizens [of Israel] are more important than you.”
