MK Touma-Sliman: Rape & Murder of Ori Ansbacher – A Gender Crime

Hadash MK Aida Touma-Sliman from the Joint List asserts that Ori Ansbacher, 19, from the settlement of Tekoa south of Jerusalem was murdered and raped last Thursday, February 7, out of purely criminal motives. “You have to call the crime by its name: The rape and murder of Ori Ansbacher is a crime based on gender,” she wrote in her Twitter account.

"Tag Meir" activists and Palestinians pay a condolence visit to the Ansbacher family, whose daughter Ori was brutally murdered on Thursday, February 7.

“If the criminal is Palestinian it doesn’t make it any less shocking; he cannot possibly be part of the struggle for national liberation.” The Communist Knesset member went on to say: “This government is the criminal when it uses Ori’s murder to continue tarnishing the struggle of the Palestinian people with a heinous crime committed by one person.” The Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Monday extended for an additional ten days the remand of the Palestinian man, Arafat Irfaiya, a 29-year-old resident of Hebron, suspected of brutally raping and murdering the Israeli teen Ansbacher.

Members of “Tag Meir” Jewish anti-racist group came on Tuesday, February 12, to the settlement of Tekoa, together with Palestinians from the area, to pay a condolence visit to the Ansbacher family, whose daughter Ori was brutally murdered.
