College Students Launch Strike in Support of Striking Senior Staff

The National Union of Students announced on Saturday evening, November 10, that starting Monday the 12th students at eight public colleges throughout Israel will launch a strike in support of senior staff at these institutions of higher learning whose own strike entered its fourth week on Sunday.

About 30,000 students have not been able to commence their studies for the new academic year that was scheduled to begin on October 21. The eight struck schools are Sapir College, Hadassah Academic College, Holon Institute of Technology, Tel Aviv-Jaffa Academic College, Azrieli College of Engineering, the Lev Academic Center, the Ruppin Academic Center, and the Kinneret College on the Sea of Galilee.

Following demonstrations yesterday by students in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Sderot and other cities, today, Tuesday November 13, two demonstrations by students will be held outside the Council for Higher Education and the Treasury in Jerusalem.
